Commission completes review of consumer mobile phone bills
The Commerce Commission has published a letter confirming it has completed its review of consumer mobile phone bills along with updated analysis addressing feedback from the telecommunications industry.
In September 2020, the Commission published an open letter to Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees asking them to share their plans for providing their customers with more meaningful product and service comparisons and to guard against overspending. This was accompanied by a report from Schiff Consulting, aspects of which were later contested by the industry.
In response to industry submissions Schiff Consulting has now refined the ‘right planning’ aspect of its analysis for some customers who used less than their quota in every month.

Like the craft brewing boom of decades past, microdistilleries are taking off in the Midwest, and corn farmers stand to benefit.
For the first time, the Nebraska Corn Board has opted to take part in a national microdistilling competition in an effort to further propel Nebraskaâs corn industry.
The contest is expected to kick off sometime this spring, with judging held in Louisville, Kentucky, in July during the Heartland Whiskey Competition.
Participants must use corn as the main ingredient.
Microdistilleries have increased tremendously over the past several years, nearly doubling in number over a four-year period. It s similar to the growth of local wineries and craft brewers.

The history of the Australian designed and developed Ikara anti-submarine missile will soon be published by the Naval Historical Society. It is at the final manuscript proofing stage before launch in mid-2021.
The book traces the story of Ikara from concept development to feasibility study in 1959 through to approval, design, production and service ending in 1991.
The history of the Ikara missile is a case study which demonstrates the ability of Australia’s Government, Defence Department, research laboratories and Defence industry to work together to develop a state of the art weapon system.
